About Warm 'n' Well

Warm ‘n’ Well is an exciting new Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB) programme. It provides eligible families with:

  • free home insulation and
  • a free home visit with a registered nurse

The Auckland Regional Public Health Service is contracted by Waitemata District Health Board to run Warm ‘n’ Well from offices set up in Henderson, West Auckland. Eco Charitable Trust (Eco Insulation) has been contracted by Waitemata District Health Board to manage and install the insulation.

Waitemata District Health Board has funded the programme as they are keen to improve children and families’ health. The Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority and several local councils have also funded Warm ‘n’ Well. The programme will run until June 2010 when Waitemata District Health Board will review the programme.

The programme will gradually be offered across the Waitemata District Health Board region (Waitakere City, Rodney and North Shore). If you live in these areas you can still apply but your application may need to go on a waiting list.

Having a warm, healthy home is important. Research tells us home insulation helps improve overall health and wellbeing. No one likes to be sick and miserable. There are many benefits of insulation: fewer wasted days visiting the doctor, cheaper power bills and lower heating costs, fewer sick days, and improved medical conditions like asthma. Insulation can make a world of difference.

Priority will be given to eligible families living in West Auckland suburbs that have higher child-hospitalisation rates.
